An introduction into the art of making Sourdough and Understanding the benefits of different grains
This build-your-own sourdough workshop guides you from grain to loaf. You will mill heritage and ancient grains on site to create two starters, while also receiving Canterbury Baking School’s optimum starter to take home.
Learn the science of sourdough fermentation, the health benefits of naturally leavened bread, and how different grains affect flavor, texture, and nutrition.
We’ll provide a practical recipe and step-by-step guidance to turn your starters into reliable results, plus make sourdough crackers from the starter.
You’ll leave with hands-on experience, practical feeding and troubleshooting tips, and a deeper understanding of how milling and grain choice impact sourdough.

Terms and Conditions
By completing the booking form for a particular workshop, you agree to the following terms and conditions:
Full payment for workshops is required at time of booking to reserve your place. If there are places available, bookings can be accepted up to 24 hours before the date of the workshop.
Cancellations are accepted for a full refund within 14 days of booking your course or buying your gift voucher. After this time, we do not offer refunds. However, if you are unable to attend your workshop, please contact vicky@canterburybakingschool and we will try to transfer you to another course.
In the unlikely event that we have to cancel a workshop you will be given at least 24 hours’ notice and offered a transfer to another date, or a full refund. We will not be held liable for any other costs or expenses that you may incur in the event of cancellation by us.
Canterbury Baking School reserves the right to reschedule a workshop if there is only one booking against it. Please see the Terms and Conditions page at the footer / bottom of each webpage.
The school requires a minimum of two attendees for each workshop to run. The reason for this focuses on a better baking experience for all participants. We thank you for your consideration in this requirement, when booking for a class.
We reserve the right to offer price promotions at different times.
The copyright for any materials used at the workshop (including recipes) belongs to us and may not be reproduced in any medium without our prior written consent.
Please note that there is restricted disabled access – the baking school is accessible by a staircase only. You will be standing for the majority of the workshop, although stools are available if needed.
Under 14s must be accompanied by a full paying adult.
Participants aged 14 – 16 will pay a reduced class booking price of £150 for a single day class attendance.
Participants aged 16 – 18 will pay a reduced class booking price of £185 for a single day class attendance.
Students can be offered a 20% discount on the full price, upon presentation of student ID when booking a class.
Parent – child family focused private workshops are welcome, please enquire.
The Classes start at 10.30am and finish at 4.30pm.
Gift vouchers, for use against a workshop booking, are valid for one year from date of purchase.
Christmas gift vouchers purchased, are valid from 1st January 2022 for a period of six months only.
Our prices are increasing on the 1st May 2022 as a result of inflation and sourcing and supply of goods price rises.
Please note our prices reflect the small class attendance size and therefore more personal tuition experience.
The prices are competitive in line with the baking school industry business.
Gift vouchers, for use against a workshop booking, are valid for one year from date of purchase.
We will honor the cash value price of the gift voucher against any workshop booked after the May 1st price increase, provided the booking for the class is made within a year of the purchase date.
